Food truck driver seriously hurt after crash on West Valley freeway
GOODYEAR, AZ — A food truck driver was seriously injured Tuesday morning in a rollover crash that shut down the northbound lanes of Loop 303 in Goodyear for several hours, causing major traffic delays throughout the area.
The single-vehicle accident occurred shortly before 11:10 a.m. near the Indian School Road exit. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the food truck, identified as a “Queso Good Quesadilla Truck,” was traveling northbound when the driver lost control, leading to the vehicle rolling over.
First responders arrived to find the food truck extensively damaged and debris scattered across the freeway. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was extricated from the wreckage and transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Their current condition has not been released.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by DPS officials. It is not yet known what factors may have contributed to the driver losing control.
The incident prompted the full closure of all northbound lanes on Loop 303 at Indian School Road. Traffic was diverted, leading to significant backups that stretched for miles. The southbound lanes remained open, though motorists experienced some delays due to the emergency response.
Crews worked for several hours to clear the scene and investigate the crash. The northbound lanes were reopened to traffic later in the afternoon.
Motorists who were caught in the closure described a lengthy standstill. Sky12 footage from the scene showed the heavily damaged food truck and the extensive emergency response.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing. Authorities have not yet released the name of the injured driver.
